About

MCP Select is an independent editorial project that installs, benchmarks, and ranks Model Context Protocol servers. Most directories list README features or sort by GitHub stars. We run real tasks and publish the pass rates.

I run the tests myself in a clean environment, publish the scripts on GitHub, and update results every two weeks. No vendor paid for placement.

Why we exist

The MCP ecosystem is growing fast. New servers launch daily, but most are solo experiments with no production testing. We filter the noise by running the same tasks in the same environment and publishing what actually works.

What we measure

  • Pass rate on five real production tasks per category.
  • p50 and p90 latency per task.
  • Tool discovery time and reliability.
  • Auth requirements and whether a server is free to test.

What we do not do

  • Accept payment for placement or rankings.
  • Let affiliate deals influence verdicts.
  • Publish scores for servers we could not install or run.

Corrections

Found an error or a server we should test? Open an issue on GitHub or email corrections to [email protected]. We update results and acknowledge fixes publicly.
